It hasn't took long after Chipper Jones last baseball game for the Atlanta Braves to be on the lookout for a new leader. Chipper has said that he was passing the reigns down to the first baseman Freddie Freeman and right fielder Jason Heyward. They have started their career just as Chipper did. They both started out playing for the Braves at age 17 and plan to stay their as long as Chipper did.

The Atlanta Braves are already in pursuit of a new third baseman to replace Chipper Jones. While the Braves will never forget the last 19 years Chipper Jones played for them, they may find someone to play third base but will never find someone to be the team leader. Everyone that has ever played with or against Chipper has always had nothing but positive things to say about him. He is truley one of the best players to ever play the game of baseball. He will never be forgotten in Atlanta.

Chipper Jones played in his final game last Friday night in the historic first Wild Card game in Major League Baseball history. The Atlanta Braves lost to the St. Louis Cardinals 6-3. The winner of the game moved one step closer to the World Series. The losers season was over. This was the final time to ever see Chipper Jones suit up for the Atlanta Braves. I can't believe that I will never get to watch my child hood hero ever play Major League Baseball again. Great career Chipper, and good luck with the rest of your life in the near future.

Chipper Jones had the opportunity to dictate when he would leave
Sunday's 6-2 victory against the Mets, his final regular-season home
game. He said manager Fredi Gonzalez asked him three times if he wanted to be
called back from the plate for a pinch-hitter or a pinch-runner and
receive one last, deafening ovation from the sellout crowd at Turner
Field. Each time, however, Jones demurred. He wanted to finish what he started.
And besides, he had his own plans for what he would do once the game
was over.
o Jones stayed in the game for all nine innings, including four plate appearances. He went 1-for-2 with two walks and a run. And when closer Craig Kimbrel got pinch-hitter Fred Lewis to ground out to Dan Uggla to end the game, Jones was on the field for handshakes.
He then thanked the fans for their support on the video board before climbing into the stands to give his parents their hugs. After attempting to keep his emotions in check all weekend, Jones finally relented.
