Today, the Atlanta Braves have a off day from playing because they are on their way home from a 6 game road trip that consisted in making a stop in Miami and Philadelphia. The Braves return home for their final home stand of the 2012 regular season against the Miami Marlins and the New York Mets. This will be Chipper Jones last home stand as a member of the Atlanta Braves. He is set to retire from Major League Baseball whenever the 2012 playoff run ends for the Atlanta Braves.

Chipper Jones informed Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez that he could put him in the lineup for Sunday afternoon's game against the Mets at Citi Field.
But looking at the big picture, Gonzalez opted to take the cautious route. Thus Jones was out of the starting lineup in his last regular-season game in New York and in front of the Mets fans with which he has developed a love-hate relationship over the past two decades. He walked as a pinch-hitter in the ninth and was then removed for pinch-runner Reed Johnson in the Braves' 3-2 victory. "It's obviously kind of bittersweet," Jones said. "It's the last time I'll be coming here as a player unless we face the Yankees in the World Series. I wish things would have worked out so I could have played today. I really wanted to get out there today. But as I've said so many times, sometimes the body doesn't allow you to do so." Chipper Jones will be making his last trip to Milwaukee tonight for final three game series with the Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers will present him with a gift honoring his great success over these many years. The first pitch is at 7:05 CST tonight. GO BRAVOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chipper Jones rounded third base, took one look at his grinning teammates surrounding home plate and flung his batting helmet into the air before jumping into the welcoming party.
The moment Jones said he'll savor in retirement came after a dramatic homer that can help his chances of one more postseason.
Jones hit a three-run homer off Jonathan Papelbon with two outs in the ninth inning, capping a five-run rally that sent the Atlanta Braves over the Philadelphia Phillies 8-7 on Sunday.
The switch-hitting Jones was swinging as a left-handed hitter when he saw three straight fastballs from Papelbon. Jones pulled the third pitch deep into the right-field seats.
Then came the celebration every player cherishes – none more than the 40-year-old Jones, who is retiring after the season.
